The Blue Jays Claim World Series Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden Fall Classic following the 1993 season by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for everyone here, our city, our country," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

Springer has now hit 23 playoff homers, placing him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that spot except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but applauded their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
