Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who jeered keeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be true Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Spurs let in two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight home defeat of the year.

However the main talking point was the visitors' next goal when the keeper gave away the ball far beyond his box.

He came out to deal with a high pass and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.

"I heard some of our supporters reportedly booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Dane stated about the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another going forward."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I do understand the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He is a excellent team player, he's a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his third campaign with Tottenham.

He said following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"The second score was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad way. It was an even bigger mountain to climb."

He said being booed "is part of football".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on us to remain more composed, to focus on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and calmness to reverse results. This match is a bad defeat and it's tough to accept."

'I Was Surprised No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second most distant top division score of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open net to target.

10 moments passed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised not one of the back four went back to the line. When none of them defended the goal, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. Then it was solely about trying to achieve the correct contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While the keeper's mistake led headlines, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared team record along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.

They still have home games against the manager's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to come prior to the end of the season.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a huge challenge to climb," said the boss.

"During in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a position where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on record in a one season (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has taken a high profile job at a huge team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
