The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The latest Far Cry title that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for celebrating violence and insanity with similar excitement, all while presenting engaging, politically driven tales. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.

About the Series

Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and ensemble in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from season to season, while always examining the essence of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and bring our shared unconventional, daring sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
