Exploring an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Piece of Feces on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found numerous interesting independent titles. Yet, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer includes a character that is truly a turd striving to make its way to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: press a one button to leap. Across one hundred fifty stages, encounter boss fights and visit a shop to purchase skins for your dung hero.

Plan your jumps precisely, since one error means beginning again. Leap using air pockets to launch yourself to new heights, traverse disappearing surfaces, and touch triggers to reveal secret routes. Gather UN-KOINS to purchase tougher levels where things intensifies.

Graphically, the game features neon stages and a killer background music. Its minimalist graphics of morphing geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's hard to think of similar titles where you play as a dung character, video games have long incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players create throwables from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme appears heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, like taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible at present on Steam, with the full game scheduled to debut on Steam this November.
