🔗 Share this article Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Discussions Over AI Players, XP Rewards, and Queue Times Over the weekend, the game developers launched a new game mode titled Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this option mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but includes several key adjustments: Every squad has only eight human participants, with the rest made up of AI-controlled opponents. Actions performed by real players award complete experience points, while bot actions provide reduced XP. Only two locations are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State. Elements like Player tags, accolades, and stat tracking are disabled. So essentially, this mode lives up to its name: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think there's nothing wrong, since it gives more options for players seeking different methods to have fun with the title. But, if video games have taught us anything, it's that not everyone will be happy. In other words, many Battlefield 6 players are upset. Player Responses: From Fury to Praise "People want real players. Don't repeat the mistakes of your rivals," states one reply to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," comments another. At the same time, in community forums, one user notes, "It's unclear where we are going with this game," while another details everything they believe to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, fix [the] bloom after sprinting bug, fix awful hit registration. We don't need this bot mode." However, for every complaint, some gamers sharing how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, real players prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are players who actually go outside and don't play this title 24/7. Let them find a middle ground," states a different comment. A response on Twitter explains that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is perfect for me," while someone else applauds the mode for "not being overcompetitive." Valid Concerns and Community Input Despite the support, players have valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it will make wait times even longer for different playlists because of the sheer number of playlists in the game already. Similarly, certain regions already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. It also seems a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of human gamers, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots. Finally, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was promised to provide full XP, even against bots, but that got canned when they attempted to remove bot farms from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the community meeting them in the middle, according to a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the developers "making a mistake so hard, I experienced great enjoyment in the initial release, what prompted them to adjust it?" Future Prospects: Adjustments Be Made? Should Battlefield Studios has demonstrated something so far with the latest installment, it is that they're listening and responding to player input. Assignments that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode is underperforming to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
