Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar failings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
