🔗 Share this article Among Avatar's top episodes is honored with its own Magic: The Gathering collector's set. Typically, summary installments face criticism from viewers as a needless diversion, or at best accepted as a requirement in television in the era of weekly production. This wasn't always true, and Avatar: The Last Airbender showed it with "The Ember Island Players," a beloved episode in its last season which is now receiving a special Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair release. Details of the special release The complete Secret Lair superdrop for the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender set was announced recently. It features five distinct sets, and even though a set named "My Cabbages!" is an admittedly humorous tribute to the series' best background character, the additional releases appear slightly less imaginative, with one notable exception: "The Ember Island Players." Based on installment 17 from season 3 of the beloved series, this collector's drop features the following cards: 1x Phantasmal Image as "Absolutely Accurate Actor" 1x Braid of Fire 1x Cursed Mirror 1x Mask of Memory 1x Thespian's Stage Why this installment remains memorable Audiences of the series fondly remember this episode, which acted as a summary of the hero Aang and his companions' adventure leading up to the conclusion. Different from other recap episodes, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" was not driven from financial limitations or production issues. The creators genuinely intended to give fans a moment to revisit the series' story, but they decided to do it creatively. In the episode, the crew observe a theatrical performance inspired by their adventures at a playhouse set on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The play itself is factually incorrect, cheesy, and completely amusing. It excels as it plays on the characters' views of themselves, contrasting them with how the world (and especially the Fire Nation) views them. It contains an ideal level of introspective humor, and it ends up arguably the best adaptation of the show we have had. Worth and availability In terms of value, this offers a fantastic Secret Lair for one simple reason: Braid of Fire. This particular card trades for $20 and $40 on online marketplaces at the time of writing, and for $29.99 you can snag the complete collection, or for $39.99 for the shiny edition. Magic's Avatar: The Last Airbender edition can be accessed during early access events starting November 14 and launches globally on Nov. 21.
